Modern day police can spend hours driving from job to job for days on end in a police vehicle which can leave little down time to connect and engage with the local community and residents in a relaxed normal friendly environment.

In recognising this important community engagement, the Nillumbik Police, in partnership with the Diamond Creek Traders Association, and local businesses are hosting Coffee with a Cop.

The Nillumbik Police, offer Coffee Cards to locals and invite them to coffee at one of the participating café’s and the coffee for the police officer and guest are covered by the Diamond Creek Traders.

Driving this initiative from the Nillumbik Proactive Unit is Nillumbik Crime Prevention Officer Leading Senior Constable Tina Robinson who said “recognising some people can feel anxious in police presence, this is an opportunity to show local’s police can be transparent, fair and respectful and are also just regular ordinary people from the general community.”

Heidi Crundwell, Marketing Manager of the Diamond Creek Traders said that the “Diamond Creek businesses were delighted to get involved and once again support programs such as this that help to build a strong and vibrant community.”

Coffee with a Cop will commence on 16th July, 2018 and continue dependent upon interest by our local community.
