DIAMOND CREEK LIST ‘QUICK WISH LIST’
Created 17TH JUNE, 2017

This list has been compiled over a number of years different issues that have cropped up and been raised with Nillumbik Shire Council but remain outstanding.   It has tried to be as reflective as possible with the suggestions and recommendations raised by the Diamond Creek businesses.

Your input welcome e: secretary@diamondcreekshopping.com.au

Lighting in the car park at the rear of Shell Service Station (which is owned by Nillumbik Shire Council) needs reviewing as it is inadequate, making it difficult for customers to safely return to their parked cars at night.  The laneway between Chute Street and the car park requires lighting at night for employee safety and our customers.

March 2018 **

Rubbish bin replacement program. Areas of Eltham have received striking new general rubbish and recycling bins (refer below photo) and some of the Diamond Creek Traders have requested that these new rubbish bins be implemented in Diamond Creek to beautify the area by encouraging recycling and less littering.

March 2018 **

The railway line crossing is dangerous with a big dip on the right hand side from Greensborough towards Hurstbridge and poses a safety hazard which needs to be remedied as soon as possible. It also looks unappealing.    With more thought and planning this area could look like the image right: (Blackburn Village, Chirnside Park)

June 2017*

March 2018 **

Sealing around Mangrook Oval.   Current this area is unsealed and dangerous with many pot holes causing damage to cars.

June 2017*

March 2018 **

Improve the gutter network between Chute Street and along Main Hurstbridge Road adjacent to the bus stop (refer images below)

June 2017*

March 2018 **

Parkiteer Bike Cages to be installed at Diamond Creek Station (refer picture below). The Parkiteer Bike Cages provide a cost effective, safe and convenient place for locals to park their bikes. Parkiteer Bike Cages have been implemented at a number of local stations (such as Greensborough and Heidelberg) and provide the benefits of reducing the number of parked cars / congestion at station carparks and improved health of locals choosing to cycle to the station.

June 2017*

March 2018 **

Streetscape improvements from 50 to 60(d) Main Hurstbridge Road that were scheduled to be part of the 2016/17 budget were not done as promised in January 2017 due to over expenditure outside 29-35 Chute Street.   $80K was allocated across the two areas but only Chute Street was completed.  There was no allocation in the budget 2017/18 to revisit this.  The sentiment of being overlooked does not sit well with a few of the traders in this area.

June 2017*

March 2018 **

Consider installing an ampitheatre in Diamond Creek.

June 2017*

Parking along Elizabeth Street, and Station Street is very dangerous with narrow road, and located next to a primary school and swimming centre.   Additional angle parking should be installed on the north side of Elizabeth Street.
