I made myself a promise: The idea for this book was built out of necessity from my own experience.
As much as I looked there was no book that was suitable for young children to explain “mum’s going to be gone a few days or a week… she loves you, she’ll be back…”. From my son’s point of view, at only 3 years old, I was there one minute, gone the next.
I had a long road to recovery as well, and needed age appropriate ways to explain that quiet games or colouring in would be all I could manage for a while.
This book is suitable for ALL hospital visits, from day procedures to sibling births, long illnesses like cancer or like mine, multiple surgeries.
I made myself a promise that when I was well again I would create this book. Little did I know my children, with all that time spent colouring in, would become the perfect illustrators!
